Onnit Announces John Wolf, creator Wolf Fitness Systems, as Director of Fitness Education at the new Onnit Academy.
An unconventional way of thinking began to develop at a young age for John Wolf as he studied the mixed martial art of BOJUKA, a combination of boxing, judo, jujitsu and karate, under Sensei Eddie Stewart. This early mixed art was not always well received but its efficacy was hard to deny. Similar to BOJUKA, “I look to create a system that maximizes the efficacy of training and teaches my students to formulate their own opinions. Mixing a variety of training protocols and unconventional tools,” commented Wolf.
In 2002, John found himself in a tailspin as a result of choices that lead him to anything but a healthy lifestyle. With a desire to recreate himself, he began to reflect upon his experience in martial art training. In his exhaustive research he found he needed to break away from conventional training to find true transformation. That is when he found Pavel Tsatsouline and his first exposure to unconventional training. John worked diligently using Pavel’s methods and soon recovered from the weight loss due to his previous unhealthy lifestyle choices and gained significant strength at the same time.
From that point on, John began his relentless pursuit of knowledge, certifications and program development in the field of unconventional training. His education and influence on the underground segment of the fitness industry stretches back to the early introduction of kettlebells in the United States. Since then, he has worked with the organizations that have produced most of the kettlebell, steel club, sandbag, and mobility training you see today.
Certified and recognized as an authority in the unconventional fitness community, John will create a new, highly advanced education program for the Onnit Academy. His years of experience managing his fitness company, Wolf Fitness Systems, with his multitude of conventional and unconventional fitness certifications to Wolf’s programs will position the Onnit Academy on the forefront of the unconventional fitness industry.
“We train the general population as well as skilled athletes everyday and specialize helping people recover from injury using unconventional methods. I feel very confident in our ability to design effective training resources incorporating Onnit kettlebells, steel clubs, steel maces, battle rings, battle bags, battle ropes, and battle balls,” said Wolf.
Onnit founder, Aubrey Marcus remarked, “I have had the pleasure of working with some of the great trainers around the world, and John Wolf is hands down one of the very best in the business. His understanding of body mechanics, joint mobility, and functional strength is unparalleled and we are totally thrilled to have him head up our training program at Onnit Academy. With John’s holistic training approach, people who train at Onnit Academy are not only to meet and exceed their fitness goals, but their body is going to feel better than it ever has. Injuries are not a necessary consequence of hard training, and we are going to show that.”
