Summary
The Battle Ring Assisted Single Leg Hinge is a great assistance drill for anyone wanting to learn a strong single leg deadlift movement pattern. The rings allow for some assistance but their unstable nature also requires proper muscular activation.
Exercise Steps
Step 1: Grasp the two rings standing tall approximately 1 foot back from where it is mounted
Step 2: Stand with your feet narrow as you lift one knee to chest and actively push down into the rings.
Step 3: Extend back and down through the lifted foot heel as you sit back into a hinge position with a slight bend in your planted foot knee. Continue to press down and forward into the rings for balance.
Step 4: Repeat steps 2-4.
Tips & Safety: This drill is all about maintaining alignment and rooting back into the hinge. Avoid allowing the hips or shoulders to rotate through the movement.
